Our Renovation Process
OUR PROCESS | PLAN, BUILD, ENJOY
You're ready to get your project started, but still have questions on how to move forward. Our renovation design process sets out the steps to getting the results you want.
1. Estimate And Consultation
In-home consultations are available at no charge. We will arrange an appointment at your convenience to go over the project and clarify the scope of work. Your free estimate will include a detailed scope of work, the estimated cost, insurance documents, and suggested finishes. Estimates are not expected to be the final price offering, but a reliable rough figure on which you can base your planning process. The estimated price in most cases is higher than the fixed contract price once the project is planned and designed. This means you usually pay 10%-20% less than the estimate, leaving a little for contingency and unforeseen issues. You never pay more than the fixed contract price unless work is added by you. Upon approval of your estimate we collect a deposit ranging from 5% - 25% of the estimated cost depending on the scope of work, materials required and other factors.
2. Planning And Design
This brings us into the planning stage, where you will receive your fixed contract pricing, project schedule, payment schedule, a list of selections/specifications, permits and updated design drawings, if applicable.
We'll meet with sub-trades such as electricians or plumbers on site to allow them to view the project, provide pricing, and touch base with you.
We provide you with a straightforward written contract and 1 year warranty for every project. Longer warranties are available if preferred.
3. Prep And Build
On the first day of the project, we start by protecting your existing floors, creating dust barriers, and any other required prep work to protect your home and family. We will leave your home cleaner than when we started each day. You will deal directly with the same person throughout the project. We work on your project 5 days a week until it is completed, except for cases where wait time, template and fabrication, or work by others is required. These exceptions will be noted in your project schedule. We generally work on site from 8:00 to 5:00, but can adjust for your schedule if needed. We are open and honest throughout the process and welcome you to ask questions and get involved. We work safely and efficiently while respecting your home and neighbours.
4. Enjoy!
Once complete and given a good cleaning, we'll perform a walkthrough of the project together and familiarize you with your new space.
Cleaning and maintenance instructions to protect your investment will also be provided. Although your project is over, our relationship continues. We offer a 2 year warranty on workmanship and materials supplied.
